Deep in the Heart of Texas

Much like yesterday, today was a 300 mile sprint on an interstate going from one place to another.  Unlike yesterday, it was a beautiful 75 degree, low humidity, bright sunshiny day.  Although we battled high winds throughout the day, we had as good a ride as one can expect on an interstate.

We were less than 20 miles out of San Antonio when we suddenly remembered that we were going to the Alamo in the morning.  Some tourists we are.  Although we will see a lot of wonderful things on this trip, the Alamo will not be among them.

Bill and Jim discuss today's ride, a 320 mile straight shot down I-10.

Today's random conversation with a stranger brought Rob, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, into our lives.  Rob, who has a good ten years on your three favorite motorcyclists, rides a BMW S 1000 RR - a 193 horsepower, 400 pound two-wheel missile.  He left Colorado Springs last week and has been visiting his son in Lafayette, Louisiana.  He is now on the way to Big Bend National Park and then back home.  Rob likes his new bike, although, according to Rob, "Once you get to 135 to 140 miles per hour it starts to wiggle around a bit."

Rob shows Bill his new bike.
