Nashville to New Mexico and Back

We ended last year's blog, Idaho 2013, by promising to see you next year.  It is next year and, true to our word, we are back.

Our goal for 2014 is ambitious - an 18-day motorcycle ride from Nashville to New Mexico and back.

Bo Johnson, Jim Spears and Bill Thompson motor out of Nashville on April 24 with plans to return on May 11.

On route we will tour Mississippi's Blues Trail and stand at the crossroads, eat our way across Louisiana's Cajun country and then hunker down and slog across the interstates of Texas.  As usual, we will explore whatever interests us along the way.

On a previous trip we dipped into northernmost New Mexico and toured Taos but it was too hot to travel further south.  This year we visit in the spring, when temperatures are more hospitable.   Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell await us in the south.  Then it's north to Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos.  New Mexico offers national parks, monuments and forests.  There are deserts and mountains to be ridden.  Who knows what else we might find.  Lots of bacon, sausage and other piggy bits, for sure.  Tradition, after all,  must be respected.

These are our thoughts but, if the past is any indication, we will end up going where weather and whim take us.  We plan to go to New Mexico, but beyond that we don't make plans that cannot be changed.

We hope you will join us and come along for the ride.
